ISH North America has come to the completion of their fourth event; they are the only North American trade show that consolidates the kitchen & bath, plumbing, PVF, HVAC and hydronics industries. There was a huge turn out this year bringing over 500 exhibitors from various different countries to showcase their products.

Haws Corporation celebrates centennial
On October 28th, the Haws Corporation officially celebrated its 100th Anniversary at a gala celebration held at the Siena Hotel Spa & Casino in Reno, Nevada. The black-tie event was attended by 350 Haws customers, sales representatives, past and present employees, suppliers and other special guests. Beyond the regal setting, sumptuous cuisine, live musical entertainment and libation, guests were treated to a special “Hall of Haws” display. This unique exhibit unveiled, first time ever, the company’s product museum of vintage Haws plumbing and emergency equipment products assembled into a living timeline of Haws’ innovation throughout the years. That display was also supported by a 1,900 slide video tribute to the generations of “Haws people” who have made quality, value and customer satisfaction synonymous with the Haws brand.
Highlighting the evening was an appearance by the company’s founder, Luther Haws, the inventor of the first commercial drinking fountain. Haws’ invention became the core product of the Haws Sanitary Drinking Faucet Company after his original invention in 1906. Luther Haws (phenomenally played actor Larry Elliott) walked the assembled guests through the history of the company, supported by museum products and appropriate visual references. “Luther” concluded by telling the group he was “damned proud” of their accomplishments and that he couldn’t wait to see what new heights they attain in the coming years!

Oatey Company acquires William H. Harvey Co.
Oatey Co., a leader in the plumbing industry since 1916, has acquired the William H. Harvey Co. of Omaha, Neb., a manufacturer and distributor of plumbing specialty products sold throughout North and South America.
The William H. Harvey Co. will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Oatey Co. The sale includes Harvey’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in Omaha. Both companies are privately held.

Hubbard Enterprises/HOLDRITE wins award for workplace excellence
Hubbard Enterprises/HOLDRITE has been recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work” in San Diego County for 2006 and was given the prestigious “Crystal Award” in front of a crowd of over 400 at the San Diego Convention Center.
Presented by The San Diego Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a total of over 120 companies were nominated in three categories based on company size. A panel of independent judges evaluated each company and conducted extensive interviews to determine the winners.

Processes were focused to meet customer needs. Supervisors were provided in-house training through a local college to upgrade skills.
